Overview
The FFL (Federal Firearms License) order processing method applies to brands selling firearms. In the U.S., firearms manufacturers and dealers must hold a valid FFL to sell or transfer firearms. For online purchases, the firearm must be shipped from the manufacturer to a local licensed dealer, where the expert will complete an in-person background check before receiving the firearm.
How it works on ExpertVoice
During checkout, experts are required to upload a copy of their receiving dealer’s FFL certificate. This file will be available for your brand to verify and download from the ExpertVoice Admin when processing the order.
Key notes:
-
FFL orders are typically manually processed in the Admin
-
We can support both Integration Lite and EDI for transferring order data to your fulfillment system
-
However, FFL certificates must still be downloaded manually from the Admin
After shipment, the receiving dealer performs the background check. Experts may be charged a small transfer/background check fee by the dealer—this cost is the expert’s responsibility.
To successfully process FFL orders, your brand must be configured to use ExpertVoice’s FFL order fulfillment system.
