Overview
The FFL, or Federal Firearms License order processing method applies to brands selling firearms. Firearms manufacturers and dealers must have a Federal Firearms License to sell/transfer firearms. The commercial sale of a firearm (rifle, pistol, etc.) requires the buyer to complete an in-person background check to ensure they are qualified to purchase a firearm. For online purchases, the firearm must be shipped between FFLs (e.g. from the manufacturer to a local dealer).
ExpertVoice will collect the receiving dealer’s FFL certificate during checkout, for a brand to verify & download from ExpertVoice Admin when processing orders. FFL orders will generally be manually processed in the ExpertVoice Admin, however, we can support both Integration Lite, as well as EDI, for transferring order data into a client’s order fulfillment system. (FFL Certificates must still be manually downloaded from ExpertVoice Admin.)
The receiving FFL will then perform a background check on the purchaser before they can take possession of the firearm. It’s typical that the local dealer will charge the expert a small fee for the transfer and background check service. These fees are the responsibility of the member when they pick up the order from the FFL dealer. Brands must use the ExpertVoice FFL order fulfillment configuration to successfully process these orders.
