A Video Lesson is a video-focused templated lesson that can be used in a number of campaigns on ExpertVoice. With a Video Lesson:
- You can import up to one video with accompanying text in this templated lesson
- It is recommended that your video focuses on one key topic, such as your brand history, or a deep dive into one product
- You can include a short, fun quiz at the end if you'd like
Example Video Lesson from FORLOH.
Experts increasingly turn to online video to stay informed, entertained, and connected.*
- 72% of surveyed experts would rather learn through video than static content alone.
- 97% of surveyed marketers say video increases understanding.
It’s more important than ever for brands to inspire advocacy with video content. Incorporating video into a lesson lets you personally update your expert audience about new innovations, share critical product knowledge, or dive into your brand story.

Create a Video Lesson
- Visit the Lesson Library in the Library in the Advocacy Platform
- Create a new Video Lesson
- Upload a video
- Preview your lesson
Use the Library
Video Lessons can be created in the Lesson Library, or while creating certain campaigns.
Create a new Video Lesson
On the Lesson Library, click Create New Lesson and select Video Lesson.
Add a lesson name and description for your new lesson. The lesson name and description are expert-facing and should provide a high-level overview of the video's topic or theme.
Upload a video to your lesson
Under Video File, click Upload Video to select an existing video from your computer. Standard video files up to 2.0 GB are supported.
Select a video thumbnail
A video thumbnail is an image that shows your audience what your video is about. The thumbnail will be used as the preview image in the embedded player of the Video Lesson and should help the expert decide if they want to watch it.
- You can choose from one of three thumbnail options that the Advocacy Platform automatically generates or upload your own.
- You can replace or remove a thumbnail image after uploading it
- All custom thumbnail images must follow our Code of Conduct
If you upload a custom thumbnail image, it should be as large as possible. We recommend these guidelines:
- Have a minimum resolution of 1024x576
- Be uploaded in image formats such as JPG, GIF, or PNG
- Remain under the 2MB limit
- You can include text if you'd like, but keep in mind a play button icon will be located in the center of the video
Add an optional Quiz
If you wish, you can create and add a quiz to assess the expert's understanding of your lesson.
Previewing your lesson
Once your video has been uploaded and processed, you can preview the lesson on the right-hand side of the screen. Review the lesson, and when you're ready, click Save & Close.
Video Lessons in the Lesson Library
The lesson you just created will now appear at the top of your Lesson Library in the Current Lessons tab.
You'll notice that next to the Lesson Name, it shows:
- The date the lesson was created
- The duration of the lesson in terms of seconds or minutes
- The total number of campaigns the lesson is being used in
Use the three-dot menu to the right of the lesson name to complete one of the following actions.
- Preview - View what the lesson looks like for targeted experts
- Edit - Edit the lesson if needed
- Duplicate - Duplicate the lesson, but keep the original lesson
- Archive - Archive the lesson if it's no longer relevant
What is the ideal video duration?
Experts join ExpertVoice to stay informed about the latest brands, products, and technologies, but can sometimes be pressed for time.* With this in mind:
- 69% of surveyed experts say short-format lessons with videos that are less than 90 seconds in length are extremely valuable.
- 52% of surveyed experts say videos 1-2 minutes long are extremely valuable.
- 51% of surveyed experts say that videos longer than 2 minutes in length are valuable.
For each lesson, we automatically estimate the total duration or amount of time that it will take the average target expert to watch the video and complete your lesson successfully. The lesson duration is stated in terms of seconds and minutes and summarized throughout ExpertVoice.

Helpful tips
- When you upload a video, the video file is uploaded to ExpertVoice and processed for streaming delivery over the web. Higher resolutions, such as 4K or 1080p, can take more time to process.
- The maximum video upload size is 2 gigabytes (GB) - consider uploading a lower-resolution video.
