About ExpertVoice lessons
Experts are hungry to learn about your brand's story or the latest product innovations and technologies. Lessons are bite-sized pieces of content that experts read or watch on ExpertVoice to boost their product knowledge. At the end of each lesson, experts can take an Edu-Game—a fun short quiz—to assess their overall retention.
Lessons are used in the following campaign types:
-
Education and Seeding Campaigns: Educate experts about your latest products and reward (e.g., % off MSRP, free shipping) those who pass your lessons.
-
Education Campaigns: Provide experts access to lessons about your brand without providing an incentive for completing your lessons. This campaign type is perfect for providing experts with supplemental learning content.
-
Custom Campaigns: Purpose-built campaigns created and managed by ExpertVoice on behalf of your brand.
When you partner with ExpertVoice, you can create these campaigns using a combination of professional services from our Studios team and self-service features in the Advocacy Platform. ExpertVoice Studios can create lessons for you, or you can create lessons on your own in the Advocacy Platform.
Here are a few questions to consider when determining your lesson-creation strategy:
Do you want to launch Education Campaigns on demand?
If you do, the Lesson Library in the Advocacy Platform provides the templates needed to create lessons quickly on demand. In addition to any lessons you create, you can work with ExpertVoice Studios to create custom lessons.
Do you have the resources to create lessons on your own?
If you do, the Lesson Library in the Advocacy Platform is the right fit for you. If you don’t have the resources to create lessons independently, consider working with ExpertVoice Studios to create and manage your campaigns and lessons from start to finish.
Are sales and boosting product trials with experts important to you?
If so, limit lessons to one (1) per campaign or contact your Customer Success partner to make specific lessons optional for different groups of experts
Create lessons on your own
If you prefer to create lessons independently, the Advocacy Platform’s Campaign Manager creation and publication features provide you with the tools to build lessons quickly with just a few clicks. Currently, there are three lesson templates available in the Lesson Library of the Advocacy Platform:
- Video Lesson - In this templated video lesson, you can import up to one video with accompanying text. It is recommended that your video focuses on one key topic or product, such as your brand history or a deep dive into one product. If you’d like, you can include an Edu-Game at the end to quiz experts about the content.
- Structured Lesson - With this copy and photo-based templated lesson, you can import up to 1-3 images with accompanying text. It is recommended that your lesson focuses on one key topic or product, such as your brand history or a deep dive into one product. If you’d like, you can include an Edu-Game at the end to quiz experts about the content.
- Documents Lesson - This PDF-based lesson can be used in Education Campaigns on ExpertVoice. You can upload a library of PDF documents that are always accessible to your targeted expert audiences to download, save, or print. If you’d like, you can include an Edu-Game at the end to quiz experts about the content of the PDFs.
Work with ExpertVoice to produce lessons
And if you'd like, you can work with ExpertVoice Studios to create up to three different lesson types:
- Custom Lessons - Give experts the whole story about why and how to recommend your brand. Studios will conduct a complete brand immersion, interview relevant experts, and build out a full-screen, interactive lesson tailored to your brand’s unique personality. An Edu-Game can provide additional opportunities to reinforce and assess learning.
- Templated Lessons - Share the essential details about your key products in a streamlined template that enables rapid development and frequent updates to your experts. You'll be asked to complete a Discovery Brief to ensure the content matches your learning objectives. If you’d like, you can include an Edu-Game at the end to quiz experts about the content.
- Bring Your Own Video (BYOV) Lessons - For brands who want to feature their video content as a stand-alone piece, this lesson type allows for rapid sharing with your expert audience. Studios will add closed captions, a short intro copy, and an Edu-Game.
Note: If you need help creating a custom lesson, please contact your Customer Success partner.
After you approve the lesson that ExpertVoice Studios creates, your Project Manager will add the lesson to your brand's Lesson Library in the Advocacy Platform. The lesson can then be added to any campaign you or ExpertVoice Studios create.
For any lesson that ExpertVoice Studios creates, you preview what the lesson will look like on ExpertVoice from the Advocacy Platform; you cannot edit any lesson on your own in the Advocacy Platform previously created by ExpertVoice Studios.
How frequently should you create lessons
In a world where most consumers skip through marketing messages without a second thought, our audience of experts tells us they’d like to see new, in-depth content from their favorite brands at least once a month (44%) and as often as once per week (15%). And they’re willing to spend an average of 16 minutes learning about one brand in a single session on ExpertVoice. Learn more about what experts want.
Manage lessons within a campaign
Lessons can be added, replaced, or removed in select campaigns. Learn more about how to manage lessons in a campaign.
Manage lessons in the Lesson Library
The Lesson Library in Libraries is a collection of lessons you or ExpertVoice create for your campaigns.
In the Lesson Library, you can:
- Create new lessons
- Manage and edit saved lessons
- Duplicate lessons
- Preview lessons
- Archive lessons
Note: The ability to create and edit lessons is based on your subscription level. Not all features (such as duplicating) are available for ExpertVoice Studios-produced lessons.
How to access lessons
A saved lesson is one that either you or ExpertVoice Studios have previously created. You can access your saved lessons anytime in the Lesson Library with the step-by-step instructions below.
- Visit the Lesson Library in the Library in the Advocacy Platform
- Search or filter to find a saved lesson
Lessons can also be created in the Lesson Library or while creating specific campaigns.
Click on the lesson title to edit that lesson, or click the three dots on the right side of the lesson for additional options.
For lessons you create and save in the Advocacy Platform, you can select Preview, Edit, Duplicate or Archive them. For other lessons, such as those created by ExpertVoice Studios, you can only Preview them.
Preview a lesson from the Lesson Library
Lessons and Edu-Games can be fully previewed on ExpertVoice. You can follow these step-by-step instructions to preview a lesson.
- Visit the Lesson Library in the Library in the Advocacy Platform
- Search or filter to find the lesson you want to preview
- Click on the lesson name or click the three dots on the right side of the lesson to expand the drop-down menu of options to Preview
- The lesson preview will open in a new tab
Edit a lesson from the Lesson Library
If you'd like to tweak a lesson slightly for a campaign that is either published or unpublished, please follow these step-by-step instructions.
- Visit the Lesson Library in the Library in the Advocacy Platform
- Search or filter to find the lesson you want to edit
- Click on the lesson name or click the three dots on the right side of the lesson to expand the drop-down menu of options to Edit
If a lesson is currently used in a campaign, you'll get a popup notification indicating which campaign(s). Editing the lesson will apply those changes across all campaigns, anywhere that lesson is currently used.
If you would rather duplicate the lesson rather than edit an existing one, select Duplicate Lesson here.
Note: After you make any edits to the lesson and save the edits, your changes are automatically updated and preserved in any current or unpublished campaign with this lesson.
Duplicate a lesson
Duplicating a saved lesson allows you to change the lesson slightly without losing the original lesson. This saves you time from having to create an entirely new lesson.
If you'd like to duplicate a lesson for a campaign that is either published or unpublished, please follow these step-by-step instructions.
- Visit the Lesson Library in the Library in the Advocacy Platform
- Search or filter to find the lesson you want to duplicate
- Click the three dots on the right side of the lesson to expand the drop-down menu of options to Duplicate
- Provide a new expert-facing lesson name to describe the duplicate lesson
- Continue to edit the duplicated lesson
Archive a lesson
It's important to regularly audit your list of Current Lessons to ensure lessons still meet your company goals and broader advocacy marketing program objectives. If a lesson is irrelevant to you, you may archive it. You may not directly delete a lesson.
- Visit the Lesson Library in the Library in the Advocacy Platform
- Search or filter to find the lesson you want to archive
- Click the three dots on the right side of the lesson to expand the drop-down menu of options to Archive
Archiving removes the lesson from your view in the Current Lessons tab and puts it in the Archived Lessons tab in case you ever need it again.
An archived lesson cannot be edited, duplicated, or used in a campaign. It must be unarchived to perform those actions.
Unarchive a lesson
If a previously archived lesson is relevant to you again, you can unarchive it. The unarchive action means you will extract a previously archived lesson from the digital archive.
To unarchive a lesson
- Visit the Lesson Library in the Library in the Advocacy Platform
- Select the Archived Lessons tab
- Search or filter to find the lesson you want to archive
- Click the three dots on the right side of the lesson to expand the drop-down menu of options to Unarchive
